Then explain to me why, when you first install the game, you have to download every time you go to a new town or outpost. If it did what you said, you should already have most of the data for the towns and outposts, and only have to download the first time you log in.

It would be highly impractical to have all the data for the game already on the disk. The disks are full with the content they put on them as it is. It's cheaper to only include the bare minimum and have people download the rest latter (since they'll be downloading data anyways). That way they can save on costs for each disk they have to produce.

Party Search

* Whenever a party enters Party Search, an automatic message will now broadcast to players in that party’s current district. For example, if Flamingo Avenger sets “glf monk” as the party’s description in the Party Search panel, “Flamingo Avenger: Party Search – glf monk” will appear in the Chat panel of players in the same district as Flamingo Avenger.

* Whenever a party leader broadcasts “glf,” “lfg,” lfp,” “wtb,” “wts,” or “wtt” in All chat, that party will now be entered into Party Search automatically with that chat message used as the party's description.

User Interface

* The Trade panel now displays the name as well as the icon of trade items present in the trade cart, and a warning message now displays when the person you are trading with changes the offer.
* The Party panel now automatically resizes vertically to match the contents of the panel.
* The Party panel now maintains the same position it was placed in while in outposts and missions.
* The Party panel join frame has been moved to the bottom of the panel.
* Allies and pets are now listed in collapsible groups in the Party panel while in a mission.
I love those changes. I always hated it how the party panel was always messed up when I loaded a new town or something and I would have to fix it. The Party Search changes sound good as well.

Unless you use the -image command at the end of the command prompt for laoding guild wars this will happen until you have loaded the full content from the gw servers.

Any big update it is advisable to use this command. It will ensure you rarely have long loading times under normal circumsatnces.

Anyway, there are some issues I need to share with you, for instance, graphical bugs like:
  • Character errors (Some of them are sorta funny looking)
  • Changes to the position of the interface elements
  • Strange text in the territory drop-down menu
We're working to fix those things. The territory switching drop-down will give you an Err 007 if you try to move from NA to EU districts or vice-versa. It's not intended to work, it was just part of something we were fiddling with on the Development Server and somehow it all got mixed up into the Live Server. These are all no harm, no foul, non-long-lasting issues, but we'll tidy them up in a new build out today/tonight.

In fact, I understand the Live Build is in the oven right now.
Thanks for the update Gaile...any word on extending the text allowed in the Party Search Menu? I love the addition of this but it is barely useful with such a short text

Anyway... why are some people seemingly avoiding the party search? People are now selling things starting their lines with "W T S" instead of "WTS". Jesus. What the hell is wrong with people? The party search gives me a nice overview of what people are selling and buying. And I'm talking about Temple of Ages, regarding the ecto and shard trading. JEEBUS!!!
They are doing that because the amount of allowed text is too short. For instance, you can't write "WTS Urgoz long bow 100k +20 ecto" as you will end up with "WTS Urgoz long bow 100k". Yes I know, bad example, but you get the idea.

As well, you can only sell one thing at a time, so as soon as you type a second WTS item, it replaces the first. Anyone that does any volume of trading would be totally wasting their time if they could only sell one item at a time.

At work now so I can't see the updates.

Probably they uploaded the GW:EN data early seeing as the Prerelease Bonus Packs will be released this Friday, July 20th.

1gb update, is it? Good thing I spent last weekend redownloading my dat file, I trimmed it down from a bloated 3.7 gb to 2.8bg. (1st redownload/reinstall since starting GW on December 2005)

After this update I'll be back to 3+ gb then, but at least it's "lean" and not bloated data.

EDIT: It was announced in the log-in screen that they'd be doing some server maintenance, this might be the culprit that's affecting everyone's download speeds?

DoA is a lot easier now in NM. although the non environmental effects in NM mean that for foundry you cant kill your pet.

I really dont like the new tyria map when zoomed out. It has two nasty black bars each side instead of the normal widescreen I used to have

Have they just made a small change?
My client just downloaded an extra 3 files after I closed and reopened.

So far, DoA isn't too bad. Me and my friend (who had horribly subpar Hero builds) were able to get pretty far until I overaggroed.

Well, they've now actually noted the change they made to the name of the European English District.

They also added a new glitch in the /bowhead emote for the Male Paragon. They just stand their rubbing their arm.

LOL, after waiting an hour for all the downloads, my toon loads in my GH. I then go to storage and just as I clicked on it, I get the gw.exe box that says I have to close the program down. GG Anet, nice update!

The black bars have always been there for anyone running a widescreen monitor. I had black bars with the "old" map when playing at 1680x1050, for example.

It looks like they're working on a kick vote system. This was found by someone while they were looking for the new icon for Whirlwind Attack.

I dislike the fact that I cannot size my party window vertically. While I do see the point in making the update to it, for people that heavily modify their interface it really screws it up. I'd really prefer there to be an option to turn autosizing on/off the party window instead. If that cannot be done it should resize automatically but still allow the user to extend vertically after loading.

Yup, I've always had black bars with this widescreen. 1680 x1050 resolution as well. Though annoying, I can live with it

That's very interesting and a godsend if that's what it is.
